21 Sept 2025:
Lions Club of Perak Silver State organized a successful 4 in 1 Peace Poster, Colouring, Recycle Art Collage and Health Check sponsored by Loyal Academy and 19 other organizations. It was held at AEON Big Falim from 9.30am to 3.00pm.
The program was attended by more than 500 people. Close to 200 participants took part in the contest divided into three categories; Peace Poster (age 11 to 13), Colouring (Age 7 to 10) and Recycle Art Collage (open to all).
PEACE POSTER CONTEST:
Each year on September 21, people everywhere are urged to reflect on the meaning of peace and to recommit to advancing it in their communities and across the world. The 2025 theme, Act Now for a Peaceful World, comes at a time when the need for action could not be clearer.
For nearly four decades, the Lions International Peace Poster Contest has given children ages 11-13 the opportunity to share what peace means to them through art. Each year, Lions clubs around the world sponsor the contest in schools and organized youth groups, giving young people the opportunity to be recognized at local and international levels — and awarded a grand prize of US$5,000 — for their creativity in sharing their vision of the current year’s theme.
Together As One is the theme of Peace Poster Contest this year. When we come together, we can do amazing things. T
Students around the world are invited to envision what can happen when a diverse group of people unites around a common cause or goal. Imagine a world where we all come together as one!
The International Day of Peace activities take various forms across the globe. In many parts of the world, the day is marked by a minute of silence, peace education events, intercultural dialogues and other activities that improve understanding and cooperation between cultures.
Contestants this year the top three winners are awarded a cash prize of RM300, RM20 and RM150 respectively. They were also given Balmer Watch, a trophy and Certificate of Appreciation. The top three winners will have a chance to contest at District level, and then at Multiple Districts. If selected they then be judged at International Level.
Five consolation prizes of RM50 each anf a Certficate were also awarded.
COLOURING CONTEST:
Colouring competitions for children age 7 to 19 are valuable because they enhance creativity, fine motor skills, and self-expression. They also foster a sense of accomplishment, encourage focus, and provide a fun way for young children to learn and develop their artistic abilities.
Coloring is a way of expressing their creativity, from choosing the colors to adding personal details to their drawings. This all encourages creative thinking and stimulates imagination in children and adults alike. Coloring involves a lot more than simply filling in shapes and motifs.
The contest attracted closed to 100 children. It offers Cash Prize of RM180, RM120 and RM80 to the top three winners. They also received a watch, a trophy and the Certificate of Participation. Five consolation winners were awarded RM50 cash each and a Certficate of Participation.

RECYCLE ART COLLAGE CONTEST:
It was part of a 3 in 1 contest; Peace Poster (age 11 – 13), Colouring (age 7 – 10) and Recycle Art Collage (open category).
A Recycle Collage contest involves participants creating art using recyclable materials, such as paper, plastic, and cardboard, based on a given theme, and it's a great way to promote creativity and environmental awareness.
A recycled collage art contest benefits participants and the environment by fostering creativity and sustainability, raising environmental awareness, promoting the reuse of materials, encouraging resourcefulness, and providing a platform for community engagement and educational programming. These contests transform discarded items into art, teaching people to see "waste" as a valuable resource and to consider the impact of consumerism
Among the Environmental Benefits include;
a. Promotes Recycling and Reuse: The core purpose of these contests is to encourage the reuse of discarded materials, such as paper, fabric, and packaging, instead of sending them to landfills.
b. Reduces Pollution: By creating art from recycled materials, the need for new raw materials decreases, which helps reduce air and water pollution associated with manufacturing processes.
c. Raises Awareness of Waste: The act of turning trash into art provides a tangible way to highlight issues like overconsumption and waste generation, encouraging a more mindful approach to resource use.
The contest also provides Educational and Creative Benefits which include;
a. Fosters Creativity and Innovation: Participants learn to think resourcefully, transforming discarded items into something beautiful and new, developing valuable innovative skills.
b. Develops Environmental Awareness: The process helps individuals, especially children, understand environmental issues and the importance of responsible resource management.
c. Boosts Confidence and Skills: Completing a collage provides a sense of achievement, building confidence in artistic abilities and enhancing problem-solving skills.
d. Encourages Exploration of Materials: Artists can experiment with various textures, colors, and patterns found in recycled materials, which stimulates artistic growth.
It also helps to promote collaboration as Collage-making can be a group activity, providing opportunities for communication, collaboration, and sharing among participants. These events can bring together different community members, businesses, and educational institutions to support a shared goal of sustainability. Art made from recycled materials can serve as a powerful tool for social and cultural commentary, raising awareness about issues like waste and consumerism.
The Recycle Art Collage contest received 11 groups of participants. The top 3 winners were awarded cash prize of RM300, RM200 and RM150 respectively. They also received a Balmer Watch each courtesy of RIV Time, a trophy and a certificate of participation. 5 consolation winners received a cash prize RM50 each, a trophy and a certificate of participation.
