Lions Club of Perak Silver State and Loyal Academy have stepped forward to help sponsor SJK Chung Hwa Parit to organise a successful Mid-Autumn Festival with the theme, "Satu Cahaya, Seribu Budaya".
Led by Organising Chairman, Lion Chow Kin Yew, President of Ipoh Rising Star, a Club Branch of Lions Club of Perak Silver State, the festival involved students and teachers from 18 schools from Perak Tengah. More than 500 people attended the event with Food and Fun Fair, performances from various ethnic group including orang asli.
The event was graced by Perak State Exco for Higher Education, Youth and Sports, YB Khairudin Bin Abu Hanipah. Present include Headmistress of SJK Chung Hwa and Parent Teachers Association Head as well as the Secretary of Perak Chinese Schools Association. Also present include Lions Club District 308B2 Region 5 Chairperson, Lion Dr. Richard Ng and Lions Club of Perak Silver State Secretary, Lion Tina Leong.
The highlight of the event was the moon cake making demonstration involving students, teachers and parents of various ethnic groups. It was truly a unity in diversity exposing the traditional Chinese culture to the public.

Lions Club of Perak Silver rise to the occasion to help organise an eventful Lantern Parade with AEON Mall Station 18 and Loyal Academy in conjunction with Mid-autumn Festival.
Congrats OC Lion Wong Tong Meng, Vice OC Lion Wong Kean Rong, President Lion Dr. Adeline Tham, Club Branch Head Lion Chow Kin Yew and all our organising committee for the successful Mid-autumn Festival jointly organised by AEON Mall Station 18, Lions Club of Perak Silver State and Loyal Academy as main sponsor. The event held from 12pm until 9pm last night was graced by YB Sivakumar, member of Parliament for Batu Gajah, involved the participation of more than 800 people taking part in Recycling Lantern Making and Colouring contest. There was also a cultural and dance performance and Lantern Parade accompanied by Lion and Dragon Dance.

This community and cultural programme involved the participation of multi-racial people giving them the exposure and meaning of the significant of Lantern and Moon Cake festival. Close to 100 people took part in the Lantern Making Contest offering RM1,000, RM300, and RM200 to the Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner up respectively. Ten consolation prizes of RM100 each were also provided. This contest is to educate the public on the importance of embracing a recycling culure.
For kids between the age of 5 to 10, there was also a colouring contest held with the participation of about 120 people. The contest offer a prize money of RM200, RM150 and RM100 to the Champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner up respectively. Ten consolation prizes of RM50 each were also provided. This contest enable the young to express themselves freely and is important element in their development.
The contests were judged by independent judges from the Malaysia perak Art Societies.
Thank you District GST Coordinator Lion Soon Yeong Nee who came all the way from Penang to witness our event. Also present to support the event was Region 5 Chairperson Lion Dr. Richard Ng and Presidents of Perak Shun Tak, Perak Pun Yue, Perak Nam Hoi, Perak Sun Hing Wan Fow Association and Persatuan Keselamatan dan Komuniti Kepolisan Bukit Merah.

District308B2 Governor Lion Tan Say Cheong accompanied by Major Bersekutu (PA) PDG Lion Hudson Hah, Region 5 Chairperson Lion Dr. Richard Ng and Organizing Chairman Lt. Muda (PA) Lion Chow Kin Yew pay a courtesy visit to Director of APM Perak before the handover ceremony of disaster relief items.
Thank you to APM for making all the arrangements to receive our Joint Disaster Project teams and present Certificate of Appreciation.
The kind gesture will foster great collaboration between Lions Club District308B2 and Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia in providing humanitarian service to the affected disaster victims.

Twelve Clubs from District 308B2 joint hands with Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM) Perak to proactively provide Disaster Relief Aids. They contributed 200 cartons of Drinking Water, 1,000 sets of Hygiene Kits and 1,000 units/tin/packets read-to-eat dry food. The gimmick handover ceremony was conducted by District 308B2 Governor Lion Tan Say Cheong on behalf of the clubs. Receiving the items on behalf of APM Perak was YS Kol. (PA) Tuan Rohaizat Bin Hadli, Director of APM Perak.
This is a new milestone for these Lions Clubs as it was the first time such collaboration is done between an NGO and APM in a proactive manner preparing for eventual Monsoon Season starting from 30 Sept 2025. This approach was used to ensure that required items for disaster relief can be channeled fast, targeted, more systematic and reduce wastage and surplus or even deficit.
The Joint Disaster Relief project involving twelve Lions Clubs was initiated by Lions Club of Perak Silver State. Organizing Chairman. Lt Muda (PA) Lion Chow Kin Yew did a great job by making all te necessary arrangement to make this project a success.
This project is special compared to previous disaster relief projects where a pro-active approach was used. According to Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran as presented bt Kol. (PA) Rohaizat when gracing this ceremony, 280 flood hotspots have been projected this year throughout Perak involving many government agencies, frontliners and volunteers. Some of the flood prone areas include Krian, Hilir Perak and Muallim Districts.

He also thank all the participating clubs for their contributions of items towards the disaster victims. APM and Lions Club's motto complement each other and as such we make good collaboration in humanitarian service.
Also attending this ceremony include Lt. Kol (PA) Mohammad Azwani Bin Kusim, Deputy Director of APM Perak and Major Bersekutu (PA) PDG Hudson Hah.
As Region 5 Chairperson who facilitate this project, I thank all the Clubs for their generosity and quick response to make this joint disaster project a great success. Thank you to all the 12 Club Presidents and to OC Lion Chow Kin Yew.

Region 5 Chairperson Lion Dr. Richard Ng and Secretary Lion Tina Leong of Lions Club of Perak Silver State were invited to attend the Navarathiri prayers held at Dewi Sri Moogambighai Temple in Jelapang, Ipoh, Perak.
"The Jelapang Community is very close to our heart as this is where we started our community programmes in 2014." noted Dr. Richard Ng.
Congrats to Temple Committee Chairperson Lion Thinakaran who is also a member of Lions Club of Perak Silver State for his exemplary leadership in transforming this community temple into a new, bigger and more conducive temple by getting the public and government to chip in towards the building of this new temple. Also assisting this temple include Lion Bala and Lion Mahathevan of Ipoh Rising Star.
Tonight we contributed some donation towards the building fund. The temple is still short of another RM40,000 to complete the finishing touch of the whole building.
The temple welcome well wishers to help contribute the required additional funds.
